A highly authentic, original historical souvenir medal from the famous Willow Grove Park (Montgomery County, Pennsylvania), dated August 11, 1898. This piece was struck specifically for the park's annual "Children's Day" celebration.

The obverse features a crisp portrait of famed American composer and bandmaster Thomas Preston (T.P.) Brooke, whose famous Chicago Marine Band was in residency at the park during the 1898 summer season. The reverse features sharp, detailed lettering reading: "Willow Grove Park Souvenir - Children's Day - August 11, 1898."

Key Features:

  • Original Ribbon: Retains its original red, white, and blue tri-band silk suspension ribbon. Because these were handed out to children 128 years ago, surviving ribbons are incredibly scarce.
  • Condition: The metal medal features beautiful golden-brass luster with proof-like fields and minimal wear. Crisp, clear lettering. Uncleaned and completely unpolished with a natural aged patina. The ribbon shows minor expected fraying at the edges from age but remains fully intact and firmly attached to the metal suspension hoop. Please examine the high-resolution photos carefully to judge condition for yourself.

A phenomenal addition to any Pennsylvania local history, amusement park, exonumia, or early American music memorabilia collection.
